Privacy Policy — Stepping Stone Pedometer
Stepping Stone is a step counter built on a simple promise: it is free, fully functional, and it does not collect your personal data. This policy explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with information on your device.
What the app collects
Nothing is collected by us. Stepping Stone has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We (the developer) do not receive, store, or have access to any information about you.
Your step data stays on your device
- Steps are counted using your phone's built-in motion sensor (Apple's Motion & Fitness on iOS / physical activity recognition on Android).
- Your daily step totals, goal, and settings are stored only on your device, in the app's local storage.
- Step data is never uploaded, transmitted, sold, or shared with anyone — including us. Deleting the app deletes this data.
The motion permission the app requests is used solely to count your steps. If you decline it, the app simply can't count steps until you enable it in your device Settings.
In-app purchases
Stepping Stone sells optional cosmetic skins. Payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — the app never sees your name, email, or payment details.
To remember which skins you own (and restore them if you reinstall), the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives only an anonymous random identifier and the purchase history attached to it — nothing that identifies you personally.
Children
Stepping Stone does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children — because it does not collect data from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes what it does with data (for example, a future update adding optional Apple Health integration), this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described honestly in the update notes.
